- Order your credit report. It is free online once per year. There are three major credit reporting agencies. Print all three reports for your file.
- Compile a list of every creditor that you owe. The best idea is to type a list so you can have a printout to hand to your bankruptcy attorney or bankruptcy lawyer.
On this list have:
- The name and address of the creditor
- Your account number
- If it is a joint debt or not (husband, wife or both)
- The amount owed to each creditor
- How much your monthly payments total
Double check your list for accuracy before turning over to the attorney.
- You will likely need to provide a copy of income verification, such as current pay stubs.
- A list of all assets typed and prepared to provide to your bankruptcy attorney and bankruptcy lawyer.
- If you are unemployed you still need to provide all income received from ALL sources.
- Copy of titles for all vehicles, including motorcycle, boat, ATV, jet skis, etc.
- Copy of tax returns.
- Any documents relating to any lawsuits or judgments against you.
